After losing to Liverpool at Anfield in their last EPL fixture, Manchester City have more or less lost the title race to Chelsea, who are five points ahead with a game in hand.
All that the Citizens can do now is to keep up the pressure by winning all their matches and hope Chelsea slip in some of their remaining fixtures. This is City's only hope as they prepare to face Leicester City at Etihad Stadium later tonight.
Manchester City are expected to win their game against Leicester City, as they have been struggling in the competition. They are more or less sure to be relegated unless they come up with huge wins, as they lie on the last position of the EPL standings.
Now, the Citizens need to treat every game as their last one as they cannot afford any slip up.
Manchester City boss, Manuel Pellegrini after their defeat to Liverpool told reporters, "We will see the reaction in the next game."
"I hope that the team will recover and we can win on Wednesday because every point we drop means it is more difficult for the title.
"We are worried about our team, not the other teams that are behind us. It is important to try and continue playing the normal way."
Manchester City, the defending champions have not looked comprehensive of late in their domestic games. Many critics fail to understand as to why Pellegrini plays with a 4-4-2 formation when they are allowing so much space in the centre of the park.
Teams have been exploiting their weaknesses.
The Citizens have been dependent on players such as Yaya Toure, David Silva and Sergio Aguero primarily and when these players fail to turn up, their team looks lost in the park offensively.
Though City might be in the second position, Pellegrini's position as manager is in serious doubt for next season.
Manchester City have only won two out their last six matches in the EPL, which is not something one would expect from the defending champs. Leicester City have an even worse record where they have only won one and lost four in their last six games.
But, Leicester might take confidence from their last game against Everton, where they managed to take a point after finishing the game 2-2. Prior to the Everton game, they fought well against Arsenal, though they lost 2-1.
But their biggest test would lie against Manchester City, who would want to prove themselves after losing to Barcelona in the Champions League and Liverpool in the domestic competition.
