Leicester City have been on a fairy tale run this season in the EPL, as they enjoy a five-point lead over Tottenham Hotspur in the title race. They can further strengthen their position in the top if they defeat Swansea City at King Power Stadium on Sunday.
But stretching their lead is not going to be easy with striker Jamie Vardy suspended for a red card in their last EPL game. Leicester City will have to do without their prolific striker, who has played a huge role in helping their team reach such a position in the EPL.
The title race cannot get any more interesting. If Leicester lose to Swansea, Tottehm Hotspur will have a chance to close the gap on the title contenders if they defeat West Brom on Monday.
However, the title is in the hands of Leicester City, who have some tough fixtures after this game. They face Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton, which makes this game against Swansea a huge one in the context of EPL title.
Leicester manager, Claudio Ranieri, who has been dependent on goals from Vardy, will have to look elsewhere for options. At such a crucial juncture, their offencive players like Leonardo Ulloa and Riyad Mahrez need to step up their game and please the Leicester fans, who are on cloud nine after an amazing season, which has also witnessed their team seal the Champions League berth.
Ranieri was in full praise for Mahrez, who will be the star player for Leicester on Sunday. Ranieri will want to see his amazing skill against Swansea City.
"I'm very happy with him," Ranieri said. "If you see what Riyad did, it's fantastic. Every time he touches the ball, it's a great ball. He is fouled a lot because everybody knows him and they want to stop him, so it's harder for him. He has the key to open the defencive line. It's fantastic. Maybe he doesn't look fantastic now but look and you will see what he does with the ball," the Guardian quoted Ranieri as saying.
Leicester City, despite the draw in their last game, come into this game as a confident unit. They have won five of their last six games, and are gunning for their sixth win in seven on Sunday. Leicester cannot afford to take Swansea lightly as they could spoil their party and defeat them in their home turf to put huge pressure for their remaining big games of the season.
Swansea City have shown that they can take their game to the next level when required against top teams. They defeated Chelsea a few weeks back, and also emerged triumphant against Arsenal last month.
With such results, Leicester cannot underestimate Swansea. However, Swansea's performance has been inconsistent, as was witnessed in their last game against Newcastle United, which they lost 3-0. Swansea, on the other hand, will also be keen to take revenge for their loss against Leicester in their last head-to-head EPL fixture.
Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski remembers their loss, and wants his team to deliver on Sunday.
"The last time we played Leicester we were not in a good shape and they exposed us. We lost 3-0 but it could and should have been more. They were lively, energetic and played with a lot of confidence. They are a very offencive and fit team. Hopefully on Sunday we can put things right," Swansea City's official website quoted the goalkeeper as saying.
