Arsenal will face arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby match of English Premier League (EPL) at the Emirates Stadium on 8 November, Sunday.
Arsenal are coming into this match on the back of a humiliating 5-1 loss in the UEFA Champions League game against Bayern Munich. But their EPL 2015-16 form portrays a completely different picture.
They are currently on a five-match winning streak in this edition of the EPL. They will lock horns with the Spurs, who have remained undefeated in this season of the EPL since the first day.
History favours the Gunners as Tottenham Hotspur have managed to beat Arsenal only once at the Emirates, and that was in 1993. This encounter has a lot of ingredients to make it yet another riveting contest on Sunday.
Arsenal are currently placed in the second position of the EPL points table. They are equal in terms of points with league leaders Manchester City, but due to their goal difference, the Gunners had to settle for the second spot. Arsene Wenger and his boys will be looking forward to extend their match-winning streak to six on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are also coming into this fixture after a 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in the middle of the week. Tottenham Hotspur lost the opening game of the EPL 2015-16 season against Manchester United (1-0), and ever since have not incurred any defeat.
"It is true that our opponents have an advantage because they have one day more to prepare and recover, but we cannot complain and need to be ready. We need to be strong in our minds and try to win the game because we know what the derby means," coach Mauricio Pochettino told reporters ahead of their clash against Arsenal on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur have already been defeated once this season by Arsenal in the League Cup, and Pochettino and his men will be looking to avenge that loss on Sunday.
Pochettino has a fully fit squad against Arsenal, and that is indeed an extra advantage ahead of this North London derby.
On the other hand, Wenger has been rocked by injuries this season. As many as seven crucial players (Wilshere, Chamberlain, Rosicky, Walcott, Welbeck, Ramsey and Bellerin) will be sitting out on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur, but the gaffer still has the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud at his disposal, and they are in good form as well.
Expected lineups:
Arsenal: Cech; Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, Campbell; Giroud.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Walker, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Rose; Alli, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela; Kane.
