The operation was jointly carried out by the Special Operation Group of J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The encounter, as per the official sources, began in the early hours of Wednesday.

The administration has imposed severe restrictions on the movement of people to prevent stone pelting and protests near the encounter site. However, there were reports of clashes at several places.
