The official trailer of actor Dhanush's most-anticipated film "Mariyaan" has been released.
Directed by debutant Bharatbala, "Mariyaan" is inspired by true events. The film stars Parvathy Menon as the female lead alongside Dhanush.
In March, the first look poster and a 20-second teaser of the film was released creating a lot of expectations among Dhanush fans.
A press statement was also released along with the poster giving a glimpse of the film's storyline. "A young man is faced with adversity. Life deals him immense challenges, and forces him to struggle to thrive. But he does, nevertheless, fighting to survive by thriving on the sheer undying spirit of the human will to survive. Along his thrilling journey is a tryst with adventure, a smattering of drama and a gritty tale that shows the power of love in extreme circumstances. And that is the story of Mariyaan," the statement read.
"Mariyaan" is expected to release before the first half of the year, which means that the film might have a May or June release. However, there is no official announcement on the exact release date. The film's shooting took place at various locations including in the fishing villages of Kanyakumari and in Africa.
National award winner Dhanush is known for picking up varied roles. The actor sports a bearded look and appears as a fisherman in the new film. He posted a message on his twitter page along with a link to the trailer saying, "MARIYAAN OFFICIAL TRAILER.. the reason why it took us a year to complete will be seen in this."
Besides this film, Dhnaush is also gearing up for another release in the first half of the year. The actor is making his debut with Bollywood flick "Raanjhnaa" co-starring Sonam Kapoor. The romantic film is set in the backdrop of Banares. Directed by Anand Rai, "Raanjhnaa" is slated for release on 21 June.
