The trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial film "Ramleela", featuring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in rustic avatars, has finally been released.
The trailer opens on a note which seems quite similar to Bhansali's masterpiece "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" and proceeds with scenes that are vividly colorful and striking.
The film features Deepika as an outspoken village belle in love with the local village hero portrayed by Ranveer. Their chemistry is laudable from the first look. But the initial loud, colourful and clamorous shots give way to a graver situation as conflicts take core.
Since Bhansali had earlier stated that "Ramleela" was an adaption from Shakespeare's tragic "Romeo and Juliet", it is well assumed that Deepika and Ranveer are members of the warring parties. The trailer gives out a hint that this animosity stands in their way of romance.
At one point in the trailer, Deepika is seen rebuking Ranveer for his inability to handle arms, which seems odd given the introductory shot of the village and its people as arms friendly and violence approving.
However, the second part of the trailer shows Ranveer's rise as head of a gun-loving ruffian clan head post the death of an elder.
Bhansali's three-minute, six-second trailer gives away the plot of 'lovers-meeting-tragic-fate' but promises some quirky dialogues.
The film, which is slated to release on 15 November, also stars Richa Chadda, Supriya Pathak, Gulshan Devaiah, Shweta Salve and Barkha Bisht Sengupta among others. Priyanka Chopra has been roped in for a special appearance in an item song for the film.
