Fiorentina are in the driver's seat heading into the secong leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals, after they defeated Juventus 2-1 in the first leg. It was on-loan Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah's brace, which helped Vincenzo Montella's side take the advantage.
Salah has been a great recruit for Fiorentina , scoring goals regularly for the Italian club and another goalscoring game for the Egyptian could end Juventus' dream of a treble this season.
Things could have got worse for Juventus in the dying minutes of the first leg, where Diamanti had got a chance to score a third, but could not find the back of the net.
Had that goal gone in, it could have been an improbable task for Juventus to come from behind in the second leg at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Tuesday night, but with the scoreline at 2-1, they can dare to think of reaching the final, which is scheduled to be played on 7 June.
Fiorentina had earlier dumped Roma in the quarters to set up a date with Juventus in the semifinals.
Fiorentina manager, Vincenzo Montella has made it clear they are going for a win against The Old Lady. "We will not make a calculated start," Montella told reporters, as quoted by Goal. "It would be counter-productive."
"We have a slight advantage, but I think it will be an open game and an extremely difficult one at that."
Juventus have been in good form in the ongoing Serie A. They lie on top of the standings table with 70 points from 29 games and are 14 points clear at the top.
They have scored 57 goals in the league, while Fiorentina have 43. So, Montella's side are aware of the offensive threat their opponents possess.
"Juventus are a strong side with a great mentality and play the same football both home and away, also scoring plenty on the road, and that's something that should serve as an added motivation for us," he added.
"We'll perform with plenty of heart and desire, but also need to maintain clear heads throughout the game. It will also require an intelligent game on our part."
With players such as Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata in their ranks, there are plenty of reasons to fear Juventus.
But, Juve might be in a spot of bother with key players being injured. Claudio Marchisio suffered a knee injury during international duty, while Poul Pogba is also out of the second leg.
Considering the magnitude of the game, Juventus might gamble playing Andrea Pirlo, who is also struggling for full fitness. It could be worth the risk if they progress into the finals of the competition.
The winner of the match will play the triumphant team of the other semifinal, which is between Napoli and Lazio.
