Lionel Messi will earn his 100th cap as Argentina look to seal top spot in Group B with victory over Jamaica in their Copa America match on Saturday.
Messi has been Argentina's talisman for a while now, and what better way to cap off your 100th appearance – a tremendous achievement considering the Barcelona wonder is just 27 – than with an authoritative win over Jamaica to finish top of the group while also sending a message to your rivals for the Copa America title.
"I'm very happy to be here and hopefully I can celebrate another victory and once and for all win a title with Argentina," Messi told La Nacion.
"In these 100 games I have had incredible experiences, really great times. They are unforgettable.
"I've been through situations that have helped me grow as a player, but unfortunately with no title to show for it. Hopefully I'll have one to come along with the honour of completing 100 games."
Argentina, with four points from their first two matches, are definitely the favourites for the title, especially after Brazil lost their main man Neymar, who will miss the rest of Copa America due to a four-match ban.
Being favourites and actually living up to the hype are two completely different things, but finishing top of the group will be the first step towards that dream crown.
Jamaica, though, will be no walkover, as the Caribbean side have competed reasonably well against stronger opponents. They have lost their first two games, but both Uruguay and Paraguay have only managed 1-0 wins, suggesting, breaching the defence will not be easy for the likes of Messi, Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero.
"Jamaica will be a tough opponent," Argentina fullback Pablo Zabaleta said. "They may not have the chance to progress, but we have to respect them and take this match seriously like we do with all the others, as our main objective is to end the group stages in first place.
"We have great attackers and that is something that we have to take advantage of."
If there is any attack in this Copa America capable of turning on the style, it is certainly Argentina, and it will be hardly surprising if Messi marks his 100th cap with a trademark run and goal.
