"Castle" fans who were not very pleased with Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley's decision to split Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) can now rejoice, as the creators are planning to reunite the two in episode 3, titled "PhDead"
The sequel, which will be live streamed here at 10 pm on Monday, 5 October, might begin by showing the struggles of mystery novelist after his wife moved away. But the episode will gradually focus on the various efforts made by him to reunite with her.
"What we'll see in episode three is he's realised the way 'I can get my wife back' is by doing the same thing he did when they fell in love the first time — work cases with her. He finds a way to worm his way into her cases. What ends up happening is, of course, we get to a place where Castle and Beckett are building theory together, figuring out who's behind whatever the murder of the week is," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Winter as saying.
The showrunner even teased that the viewers will get to watch Beckett informing her new partner, Sunkrish Bala (Vikram Singh), "she wants to get this over as quick as possible because she wants to get back to her husband."
However, the followers of the show cannot expect a smooth ride for their favourite onscreen power couple as Winter has already revealed that Katic's character will put some space between "herself and Castle because she's trying to protect him".
Meanwhile, the case for the week will revolve around a local college fraternity student, who is found gruesomely murdered. The official synopsis of "PhDead" read: "Castle has to go undercover as a professor in order to gain access to the victim's world. However, he and Beckett soon discover that behind the fun and games of college are some darker secrets the university wants to keep hidden".
ABC will air "Castle" season 8 episode 3 at 10 pm on Monday, 5 October.
