Day 3 of the BWF World Superseries Finals gets underway on Friday at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, and Saina Nehwal remains the highlight in the women's singles category.
The Indian star shuttler displayed immense mettle to get past world number 1 Carolina Marin in an epic three-setter last evening to notch her first win of the prestigious tournament. Saina opened up her chances of progressing to the semifinals of the competition after the win.
Saina faces Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the third group game today, and if she manages to record another victory, the world number two will almost be through to the next round.
However, the same cannot be said about Kidambi Srikanth. The 22-year-old is the other Indian in the competition, and he faces an exit from the tournament, after failing to pick up a single win from his two matches.
Srikanth meets Chou Tien Chen in the third group game of the men's singles today. The Indian lost his first group game against Kento Momota of Japan, and then lost to Viktor Axelsen yesterday. He lost both the games in straight sets.
