Makers of India's first war comedy film "War Chhod Na Yaar" have released the trailer. The movie is likely to be released on 11 October.
The film stars Sharman Joshi, Sanjay Mishra, Javed Jaffrey, Mukul Dev, Dalip Tahil along with Soha Ali Khan, who plays the role of a journalist.
"3 Idiots" actor Sharman Joshi plays the role of an Indian soldier while Sanjay Mishra and Javed Jaffrey are on the other side of the border as Pakistani soldiers.
Filmmaker Faraz Haider has tried to give a comical face to the tense situations on the India-Pakistan border. The trailer of "War Chhod Na Yaar" presents a set of humorous situations with hilarious dialogue exchanges between the soldiers of both the countries.
"It's the first-of-its-kind war comedy. It is something that has never been attempted in Indian cinema ever before. It's a film that all associated with are very proud of," Sharman told Hindustan Times while speaking about the film.
"The Army is a very serious business. There are different ways to convey the message and objective of a story and we chose the satire/comical way," Javed Jaffrey added.
For actress Soha, it will be second innings as a journalist on screen. She had played a role of a reporter in the patriotic "Mumbai Meri Jaan" (2008) and recently her sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor played a scribe in Prakash Jha's "Satyagraha".
"I was in love with the script as soon as writer-director Faraz Haider read it out to me. Our movie has turned out really well," the actress told Daily Bhaskar.
This war comedy is Haider's directorial debut. He had previously assisted Dibakar Bannerjee in "OyeLucky! Lucky Oye". The film, which is extensively shot in Rajasthan, is produced by AOPL Entertainment.
