"The season premiere kicks off with the FBI hunting Liz (Megan Boone) for the murder of the Attorney General. Red (James Spader) and Liz are named to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and set out on the run to evade capture. Red calls upon a Blacklister called "The Troll Farmer," to help them flee the city, while the task force must question whom of their own can still be trusted," reads the official synopsis (via Catermatt).
As we all know, season 2 finale was quite dramatic with Elizabeth Keen aka Liz (Megan Boone) shooting down Attorney General Tom Connolly. And now Liz, along with Raymond Red Reddington aka Red (James Spader), is on the run and the two of them are now on "FBI's most wanted fugitives" list.
So what happens when those who have been pinning down blacklisters, become fugitives themselves? Will they seek help from those criminals that they been hunting all this while or will they be on their own? This and many other such questions will find their answers in the pilot episode.
So far, we know season 3 episode 1 will see...
Liz-Red's real relationship: Both Liz and Red care for each other and do have feelings for each other. Though Red is still confused about his feelings for the FBI agent, Liz clearly has no romantic feelings. But fans want Liz and Red to be romantically linked.
Liz's husband Tom Keen's return: It has been reported that Liz and Tom's relationship will be shown in a different light this season. The pilot will show Tom's (Ryan Eggold) reaction after he finds out his wife has now become a fugitive. The last season saw the two of them planning to escape together, but Liz decides otherwise. Tom is left behind alone in the boat, not aware of the fact that his wife had killed the attorney general.
Liz-Red seeking help from Blacklisters: The season 3 premiere will also show what happens to Liz and Red while they are on the run and try to seek help from those whom they were previously putting behind bars. Reports have suggested that there will new blacklisters, including "X-Men: First Class" alum Edi Gathegi who plays Mr. Solomon, a man who handles the dirty work for the Cabal.
No time lapse, but new show format: It has been widely reported that "The Blacklist" season 3 will pick from the previous season. There are no gaps or time jumps, but the show will have a new format given that the tables have turned. The showrunners have hinted that "the hunt for Red and Liz... is a slightly more serialised story than we've told in the past."
Liz's new look: Producer Jon Bokenkamp revealed that Liz will be adopting a new look to keep her identity hidden. "What we hit on in the story is that by virtue of her being on the run and having to change her look, she ends up realising that she may look like her mother."
Liz and Red's story continues on NBC's "The Blacklister" season 3 episode 1 titled "The Troll Hunter", which premieres on 1 October, 9pm.
