The fesitval of lights – Diwali – is not just an event that captures the imagination of people in India, with a couple of heavyweight football clubs of the world getting in on the act as well.
Arsenal, as we all know, have a huge following in India, and some of the players took time out to create a special video to wish all the Indian fans from around the world a Happy Diwali.
Quite a few Arsenal favourites are in the video, including Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Joel Campbell, Mathieu Flamini, David Ospina, Aaron Ramsey, Petr Cech and Mesut Ozil, who does a little thing with his hand in the video, rather than that magical left foot of his.
Wenger spoke to Arsenal Player on the occasion of Diwali, with the Frenchman praising Indian culture. "I am an admirer of Indian culture because, historically, through [Mahatma] Gandhi, when you are a young boy you learn about [his non-violence principles] and it has a special meaning to you," Wenger said.
"When you are a very young boy you think you have to fight violence with violence and you never forget about a guy who gives you that [peaceful] example.
"It makes you curious about Indian culture as well because they have their special culture with the different strands in society. It's a very interesting one.
"On the other hand, when you look here, there is a very big Indian community in England and they are all hard-working people. All of them are doing very well in society, so you always respect that when you know that. Hard work is an essential quality in every society. That provokes a big respect."
The team that are level on points with Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League table -- Manchester City -- who have a growing base of fans across the world as well, also took time out to wish a special Happy Diwali to their supporters, with skipper Vincent Kompany leading the way.
Below is the video of both teams wishing a Happy Diwali to their Indian fans.
