The first look of "Ugly", an intense thriller written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, was released on Thursday.
With an uncanny cast, the edgy trailer promises a dark drama right from the start with the abduction of a young girl despite under the care of her father. Tension escalates after the couple gets divorced and the girl's new father, played by Ronit Roy, enters the scene.
The 2:48 trailer, which has received over one lakh views in just three days, promises a grave setting in the dark by-lanes of Mumbai and the suspense around the abduction of the little girl deepens as the plots take different twists and turns. The trailer also presents avid chase scenes to rescue the kidnapped girl and portrays an essentially murky character intertwined in the fiasco.
The psychological thriller features Girish Kulkarni, Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vinit Kumar Singh, Surveen Chawla and Vipin Sharma in key roles. It also has television actor Rahul Bhat, who was last seen in a daily soap back in 2009.
Kashyap's "Ugly" was first screened at Cannes Film festival this year in the Director's Fortnight section. Its first digital poster was released on 8 May and flick is scheduled to hit the theatres on 11 October.
Co-produced by phantom films and Dar Motion Pictures Limited, the psychological thriller is expected to bring fore Anurag Kashyap's masterful telling of the dark drama which has been his forte.
