"American Idol" has become one of the most popular cultural events in television's history in its 15 years of existence. The show, which started in 2002, is currently in its final season and will crown the final "idol" April 7.
Since this is the show's farewell season, the producers of the show have come up with a 90-minute special episode that will showcase a retrospective on all the previous seasons. The episode titled "American Idol: American Dream" will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest and will feature current judges and contestants, former judges and contestants and the American Idol behind-the-scenes team as they share their memories of the show.
The episode will be broadcast April 5, 2016, at 8 pm (EST) on Fox and will be available for streaming on the channel's website afterwards.
"American Idol: American Dream" will be followed by the a two-part finale that will see the top three contestants battle it out one last time on April 6 and the crowning of the 15th and last "American Idol" April 7.
The finale will also see performances by previous season contestants such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia.
