A video of Iranian musician Alaa Wardi singing to a new version of the song "Pehla Nasha" from 1992 film "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar" has gone viral on the internet.
The 27-year-old singer based in Saudi Arabia uploaded the video to YouTube with the description: "I'm a Huge fan of Bollywood, Aamir Khan, Jatin Lalit, and Pehla Nasha specifically, thought it would be a good choice for my first Hindi A Cappella on YouTube.. I hope you like it and share it with your family and friends :)."
'A capella' is an art form, wherein a person produces music without any instrumental accompaniment.
The four minute, 38 second long video has fetched 4.3 lakh viewers since it was posted online on 2 April. The video shows Wardi singing and generating sounds like bass, clap, strings and many other instruments, using his mouth and hands.
Have a look at the video:
Wardi first came into limelight in 2011 after his 'A Capella' version of Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram's "Fi Hagat" became popular in Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The singer then posted a series of such videos on YouTube and decided to pursue it as a profession.
"I discovered YouTube by chance. I posted a video for my friends to watch and suddenly people started sharing it. So I discovered a new type of audience around the world that listened to my music sitting in front of their computer screen. That was when I decided to make an Arabic a cappella video since there was none on YouTube. It went viral in the Arab world so I started taking it more seriously and doing it for a living," Wardi told The Asian Age.
The new "Pehla Nasha" video has received good response from viewers. Here is a look at few of the comments:
