Serena Williams vs Venus Williams – one of the great rivalries in tennis history is back for another tilt in a Grand Slam, with the two ridiculously successful sisters clashing in the quarterfinals of the US Open 2015.
It hasn't been too long since the two Williams sisters met, with Serena powering past her older sister Venus in the fourth round of Wimbledon a couple of months back.
Going into this quarterfinal match as well, Serena will be the overwhelming favourite as the world number one looks to move one step closer to completing that stunning Calendar Grand Slam, something no tennis player has done since Steffi Graf in 1988, the year in which the German legend also won an Olympic gold medal.
The gold medal is not within Serena's grasp this year, but the calendar Slam certainly is, and a win over Venus on Tuesday will mean the 21-time Grand Slam winner is just a couple of wins away from the stunning achievement.
"I'm playing, for me, [against] the best player in the tournament, and that's never easy," Serena said of facing Venus. "She's beaten me so many times. I've taken a lot of losses off of her -- more than anybody.
"Yeah, she's a player that knows how to win, knows how to beat me, and knows my weaknesses better than anyone. So it's not an easy match at all. Hopefully things will go right."
Serena has not been at her absolute best at this US Open, and that is, perhaps, something which will encourage Venus, who has breezed past her last two opponents.
Venus' victory over Belinda Bencic in the third round, in particular, was impressive but the older sibling will know Serena will be a completely different prospect.
"She's so good," Venus said of her younger sister. "What else can you do except try to win the point and hope she doesn't hit an ace.
"It's all focus. You have to prepare. You have to play well. Even though you're playing your sister you have to be prepared and focus. The preparation doesn't change."
Apart from being sisters and growing up playing tennis together, Serena and Venus have met each other 26 times as professionals going into this match, and after Venus said the rivalry has slowly turned into "fun", Serena, who has a lot more to lose than her older sister, agreed.
"Nowadays, I would agree, I think it's more fun than it used to be," Serena added. "We really relish the opportunity. We're both happy to still be involved in getting so far. And it's still super intense.
"She's doing well and she wants to win this. So do I. It's [fun, but it's] not easy."
