After making the suicide note of her daughter Jiah Nafisa Khan public, the mother of the actress revealed that superstar Salman Khan had initially asked Sooraj Pancholi to put an end to his relationship with the actress.
In an Interview with Mumbai Mirror, Rabia Khan, Jiah's mother, mentioned that the "Dabangg" star, who was set to launch Sooraj, had tried to talk him out of the relationship when his father Aditya Pancholi confided of the close bond between Jiah and his son to Salman.
Rabia Khan went on to add that when Sooraj convinced Salman that he was in love with Jiah, the superstar accepted the relationship.
Hinting that Salman was initially against the duo's relationship but later accepted it, Rabia said, "He (Aditya Pancholi) even told Salman Khan about it (Jiah and Sooraj's relationship), who tried to talk Sooraj out of it. But Sooraj told him that he loved Jiah and Salman was then cool about it."
On asking whether she ever discussed about her daughter's relationship with Sooraj to Aditya Pancholi, the grieving mother told the tabloid, "It's a misconception that Aditya and I were friends. Aditya is Anju Mahendroo's friend. If he was my friend, things would have been amicable and this incident wouldn't have happened. But yeah, I know he threw a fit when he came to know about his son's relationship with my daughter."
During the interview, the mother of the 25-year-old actress said that Jiah, who wanted to marry and settle down with Sooraj, was being avoided after he signed Salman's movie.
"After he signed his debut film (remake of Hero) with Salman, his body language changed. In fact, Jiah told him that she wanted to meet Salman and tell him that she wanted to work with him. But Sooraj did not make it happen."
Jiah Khan, who preferred to be known as Nafisa, committed suicide by hanging at her Juhu's apartment on 3 June.
