Bollywood actor, Farhan Akhtar, captured hearts with his terrific performance in the film "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", for which Ranveer Singh had also auditioned.
Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra revealed that Ranveer had also auditioned for the lead role but Farhan bagged the role.
Did the director think that Ranveer was not capable for this challenging part? Despite Ranveer's physique and age, which matched with the real Milkha Singh's personality, Mehra chose Farhan over him.
"Farhan came as an instinctive choice. His age was wrong - Farhan was 36, Milkha was 22. But I felt out of all the auditions I had seen he was the best. There were three people who stood out - one was a new actor called Nitish, one was Ranveer Singh, who was quite crazy and then Farhan," Mehra told Press Trust of India.
"For me Farhan worked the best because his response was silent. I could see it in his eyes. That was it. That was enough for me," he further said.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" also starred Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Pavan Malhotra, Yograj Singh and Prakash Raj.
On the other hand, Ranveer and Farhan had earlier come together for Zoya Akhtar's film "Dil Dhadakne Do" which released this year.
Meanwhile, Ranveer will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani".
The period drama features Ranveer as Peshwa Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai.
The film will be released on 18 December, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's "Dilwale".
