Reports of Jacqueline Fernandez replacing Katrina Kaif in Karan Johar and Salman Khan's joint venture were recently doing the rounds. But it is now being said that Katrina had herself turned down the offer due to date issues and hence the role has gone to the Sri Lankan beauty.
Karan and "Dostana" director Tarun Mansukhani are planning to come together for a film and for the same they had approached Katrina. An entertainment portal even reported that Katrina will be paired opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in the said film. But apparently she has signed something big and the dates of her movie were clashing with Salman's film.
"Yes, Katrina was approached for the film since she was a perfect fit for the role and she shares a great equation with both Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani. She had to turn down the film as she has signed another film, dates of which were clashing with this project. It was then that the makers approached Jacqueline. Though Katrina has high regard for the makers, she has signed something big and committed her time there," Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.
Now since Katrina has declined the role, Jacqueline has reportedly come on board for the same film. Karan-Salman's joint venture will be an action film, which will have Jacqueline and Sushant in the lead role.
"The banners (Dharma Productions and Salman Khan Productions) are keen to make this film the first instalment of an action series. Discussions about two follow-ups are already in talks," Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying.
