Elections may have been fought in polling booths over the years, but pre-election battles these days are fought on social media. Political parties have been known to get their hashtags trending on sites like Twitter in the hopes of getting younger voters to support them.
MCD elections 2017: Both Kejriwal's AAP & Modi's BJP have a big stake in this pivotal election
However, that does not seem to be the case with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, with only Congress formally making a hashtag trend for its benefit. Congress in Delhi is using hashtag '#CongressWinningMCD' to reach out to as many supporters as possible. But keeping in mind that Congress' chances of winning the MCD poll is slim, it is indeed comical to see the effort they are making.
Meanwhile, as several Bharatiya Janata Party supporters are using hashtag '#Jhaaduman' to try and show Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal in poor light, many AAP supporters on Twitter are using the same hashtag to fight back.

The BJP in Delhi has not yet put out any hashtag to buckle up in last stance of the poll, which is scheduled for Sunday (April 23). The social media team of AAP has also not shown any effort to use hashtag 'Jhaaduman' to reach out to the residents of Delhi.
