We did not see Negan and his group or Rick and the Alexandrians in this Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead, as it focused on Tara and Heath, the supply runners, who left Alexandria Safe Zone a while back in search of food and weapons. But thanks to Tara, we were given our first look of Oceanside, a community of survivors comprising only of women and children.
The people of Oceanside have also had a bad run-in with Negan and the Saviors. The men and older boys of the community were killed off by Negan's men when they refused to obey the leader of the Sanctuary.
It is not immediately known if the Oceanside will be visited once again this season, as in Robert Kirkman's comics, which is the source material for The Walking Dead television series, Oceanside gains prominence only after the war with Negan. Oceanside eventually becomes the main supplier of seafood to other communities.
The next episode is titled Sing Me a Song and it will shift focus back to Negan and Rick's groups. The official synopsis for Sing Me a Song reads: A deeper look at the Sanctuary and the world of the Saviors; members of Alexandria look for supplies.
In other news, The Walking Dead's ratings have dropped and it could be the Negan effect. The season 7 premiere saw 17 million tuning in, but the show's rating has dropped to 12.5 in episode 2 to just 11 million viewers in episode 5. One of the reasons could be the show's decision to kill off two major characters in the premiere. Glenn and Abraham were fan favourites and viewers were disappointed when Negan killed both of them.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC.
