Season 6 of "The Walking Dead" ended with a big cliffhanger with the new villain, Negan, bashing someone with his barbed wire wrapped baseball bat. The scene went blank before the victim was revealed to viewers, and this has given rise to a number of theories on who would be at the receiving end of Negan's bat.
If the television series follows its source material, Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" comics, then Steven Yeun's Glenn would be the unfortunate soul. But theories swirling around also suggest that it could be Maggie.
The definite answer will be revealed in Season 7 episode 1, which will air in October.
"Yes, who was at the receiving end of Negan's bat will be revealed in the first episode," executive producer Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly. Nicotero also added that viewers will see many more rants from the villain before the season ends.
"Negan is that kind of guy," said the producer. "He's the kind of guy who imagines himself on stage at a high school production and he loves every second of it. So, I don't really see a lot of quiet contemplative moments with Negan. I feel like with Negan it's really going to be about him gesticulating and him sort of relishing in the sound of his own voice while he commands the stage in front of whoever's alive."
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 will premiere this fall on AMC. Filming is currently underway in Senoia and according to The Spoiling Dead Fans, the show has now completed filming episode 6. One of the scenes that was recently shot was of Carl hiding in Negan's truck. This is said to be an important scene in "The Walking Dead" comics.
While there's still no clarity on who dies, the spoiler forum has been able to confirm that Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon, who was rumoured to be Negan's victim, is alive and well.
