A Vueling flight to Munich had to make an emergency landing at Barcelonas El Prat airport on 26 March 2015 after the captain smelled burning. Vueling is a budget carrier owned by IAG.

The Airbus A320 took off from Barcelona around 6.00am but minutes later the captain decided to return the plane with the 137 passengers to the Catalan city. Members of police were waiting for the aircraft on the tarmac.

Passengers were offered an alternative flight that took off from Barcelona around 8.30am. Some travellers declined to take the flight. The incident happened two days after a Germanwings Airbus A320 that took off from Barcelona ploughed into a mountainside in the French Alps, killing all 150 on board.
