After the "Beep Song" controversy, Tamil actor Silambarasan aka Simbu (STR) has released the "Vote Song," requesting the people to cast their votes during the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election. The song, which begins with the lines "Vote Podu Mama," has been composed by the actor, and sung by Simbu and VTV Ganesh.
STR looks to spread awareness about the right to vote through this election-special song. "It is your duty to vote. Do not dither on why you should vote. Do not think: 'What difference will it make if I do not vote?' [lyrics translated from Tamil]," the actor is heard singing in the song.
The song, released on the YouTube channel of divomovies on May 11, was shared widely on social media within hours of release. It has received more than 4,000 views at the time of reporting.
The "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" actor is awaiting the release of Pandiraj's romantic comedy entertainer "Idhu Namma Aalu," in which he has been paired opposite Nayantara. The movie is expected to hit the screens on May 20. Simbu also has Gautham Menon's "Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada" and Nelson's "Vettai Mannan" in his kitty for the year.
