Swedish car-maker Volvo is set to launch the premium sedan, the S90 in India on November 4. The bookings for the sedan are already underway in the country and the company is reportedly looking at 251 pre-orders before the delivery begins.
A report of Autocar India says that the deliveries of the S90 sedan are likely to commence in December and the model is expected to fall in the price range of Rs 55 lakh to Rs 58 lakh. The S90 is based on Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology and in India, the sedan will come powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that can churn out 188bhp of power in D4 trim, Volvo is reportedly also looking to bring the D5 engine with all-wheel drive later. The D5 of the S90 has the capacity to pump in a power of 233bhp. Both engines will come coupled to an eight-speed automatic automatic gearbox as standard.
To be pitted against Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 in India, the S90 is expected to get Bowers & Wilkins sound system, navigation and climate control. Other features expected include Nappa leather upholstery, touchscreen climate-control interface for rear passengers, multiple drive modes, electric adjust front seats with memory and ventilation and a powered tailgate.
The S90 will join Volvo's S60, S60 Cross Country, V40, V40 Cross Country, XC60 and XC90 in India. Volvo India currently has its dealerships in South Delhi, West Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kolkata.
