Swedish car-maker Volvo launched the S60 Cross Country in India Friday, March 11, with a price tag of Rs 38.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai; without octroi). The S60 Cross Country is the company's first offering in India in 2016.
The S60 Cross Country, unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show last year, is powered by a 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel engine that can churn out 188bhp at 4,000rpm and 420Nm of torque at 1,500rpm to 3,000rpm. The Volvo S60 Cross Country, which is based on the company's S60 sedan, comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) and measures 4,638mm in length, 1899mm in width and 1,539mm in height. It gets an increase in ride height of 65mm.
"Nothing could be more appropriate for India than a Cross Country sedan. Our customers want their car to glide through the rough roads but had to compromise on the rear seat comfort of a sedan. Our latest launch, S60 Cross Country addresses both these in a unique blend of sporty ruggedness. We have included all the capability driven features standard offering in a unique 'all weather, all road' experience," Tom von Bonsdorff, managing director, Volvo India, said in a statement.
Available in five exterior colour options — Rich Java, Osmium Grey, Oynx Black, Crystal White and Bright Silver — Volvo S60 Cross Country will take on the likes of Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series in India.
The S60 Cross Country houses features like cruise control, park-assist camera, a height/length-adjustable steering wheel, speed-sensitive power steering and a rain sensor. On the safety front, Volvo S60 Cross Country packs Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Brake Assistance (EBA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC).
