German carmaker Volkswagen is preparing to unveil the sixth-generation of the Polo in June itself. Ahead of the debut, the company has released a teaser image of the car that reveals its silhouette.
Some spy shots and a teaser video have already revealed some information about the new Polo. In the new avatar, the Polo hatchback moves from the PQ25 platform to the lighter MQB A0 and is in for a complete overhaul. The new Polo will be longer and wider than the outgoing model while the height of the car will get less. The wheelbase of the car will be increased, and more interior space will be available.

The new Polo will flaunt a new bumper, restyled front grille, and fog lamps. It will also have new styled headlamps with LED. The curves and the lines of the new Polo seem to have been further accentuated with chrome lining while the rear is expected to have a new taillamp cluster and redesigned bumper.
Although the images do not reveal the interiors, reports say Volkswagen's familiar switches and touchscreen infotainment systems are in place, and the fit and finish are of top-notch quality.
The hatchback is expected to be available with an array of both petrol and diesel mills. One or two turbo-charged petrol engines are also on the cards. These are rumoured to be 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder and the 1.5-litre TSI Evo four-cylinder petrol mills. Also, a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine will be the base offering. A 1.6-litre TDI four-cylinder will be the diesel engine option.
In India, the Polo is likely to continue with the same engine options as the current model. The top-spec GTI model has been rumoured to come with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that churns out 198bhp.
