German car-maker Volkswagen inaugurated a new dealership in Malappuram, Kerala on Monday, September 22. The new showroom is located on the Palakkad Highway.
The new facility in Malappuram is a 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) dealership equipped with 10 car display areas and a 14-bay workshop with spares stock.
"Kerala is a vital market for Volkswagen where we see a huge potential. With the inauguration of our new showroom in Malappuram, we stand by our commitment of providing better accessibility to serve a wider set of customers," said Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India.
Volkswagen currently offers the Polo, Vento, Jetta, Beetle and Ameo in India. The company is expected to bring the diesel version of the Ameo, a made-in-India, made-for-India compact sedan, during the festive season this year.
The company is currently also in the process of recalling 3.23 lakh cars in the country. The group has got the approval from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for the recall and has started the process with older generation Skoda Superb. The recall includes 1.9 lakh cars from Volkswagen, 88,700 cars from Skoda and 36,500 cars from Audi sold in India, which were manufactured from 2008 to December 2015.
