German carmaker Volkswagen has revealed the sketch images of the new-generation Passat, which is expected to make its way into the market in coming months.
Passat, the super luxury sedan from Volkswagen looks different in its style from its predecessor and seems to have got a coupe-like design. The images suggest that the upcoming Passat would wear a redesigned front grille, headlight and front fascia.
The car appears to have drawn some features from the company's latest CrossBlue Coupe and T-Roc SUV concepts and the new Passat is likely to carry more edgy and sporty style than its existing models.
Under the hood, the new gen Passat is expected to come with 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine, which can churn out a 237bhp of power and 500m of torque and is likely come paired to seven-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system. Rumours are also rife that a plug-in hybrid variant of Passat is also in the offing, which would feature a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine and a 102 PS output electric motor.
Although the sketch images of the new Passat do not reveal the interior of the car, a report by Car Advise suggests that the car would accommodate new infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. 2015 Volkswagen Passat is tipped to debut at Paris Motor Show in October. The car is also likely to make its India entry after that.
In India, Volkswagen currently retails Passat in three variants: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline and is priced between ₹26-32 lakh. Earlier Indian unit of the Volkswagen had said that the next generation Passat, which is currently in the making, will hit the Indian market at the appropriate time.
