German car-maker Volkswagen has been testing its upcoming powerful hatchback, the Polo GTI, in India for quite a while now. While the three- door version of the Polo GTI has already made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots and leaked images, a new set of images shows the five-door version of the powerful hatchback.
It was being reported earlier that Volkswagen would consider the five-door Polo GTI for the Indian market after gauging the response for the three-door version. Volkswagen is expected to launch the Polo GTI in India in the second half of 2016. It was clicked by IndianCarsBikes while undergoing testing in Pune. Volkswagen Polo GTI had made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. Volkswagen is expected to launch the powerful version of the Polo in the country after the launch of the Ameo compact sedan.
At the heart of the GTI is a 1.8-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol mill that can churn out 192bhp of power with seven-speed DSG gearbox. To be brought to India as CBUs (completely built units); the Polo GTI is expected to be priced at over Rs. 20 lakh.
It is expected to come with features like new front and rear bumpers with a GTI badge and LED DRLs, honeycomb-styled radiator grille rear-spoiler, tail light clusters in dark red, a black grained diffuser and chrome dual exhaust tailpipes.
