German auto major Volkswagen is wasting no time in grabbing a pie in the burgeoning compact sedan market .The maker of Polo hatchback is readying a new compact sedan for the Indian market and the model has been spied testing in the country for the first time.
The good chaps at Motor Octane have managed to snap the new Volkswagen compact sedan, giving us the early glimpse of the model. The heavy camouflage on the test mule aids the company to hide most of the key details of the new model. However, according to the spy photographer, the new Volkswagen compact sedan was seen with revised headlamp and front grille along with differently-styled taillights. Inside the cabin, the model is likely to get a similar center console like the one in Polo and Volkswagen sedans.
New Volkswagen compact sedan will sit on the wheelbase of Polo and is likely to be positioned below the Vento. The engine line-up of the model is expected to include 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines and the new sedan is likely to make its India debut at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
Polo-based compact sedan, a model which is likely to be in the su-4 meter segment ,will be competing against the likes of Maruti Swift DZire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest in the Indian market and the company is likely to price its new sedan in the ₹6-₹8.5 lakh range.
