Volkswagen India is expected to announce the launch of the Polo Allstar edition in the country soon and if the emerging reports are anything to go by, the new variant of the Polo has started reaching selected dealerships of the company.
The Polo Allstar edition has already made its debut online on the India website of the company. While the launch date of the new Polo is yet to known, CarblogIndia reports that the launch could happen soon. The Polo Allstar edition, is the special edition of the Polo hatchback introduced for the promotion of 2016 UEFA European Championship football and was first showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
In the international market, the special edition comes powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. In India, Volkswagen is likely to offer the new edition of the Polo in 1.2-litre MPi petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine, paired to five-speed manual transmission. The petrol mill develops 74bhp and 110Nm of torque while the diesel mill returns 89bhp and 230Nm of torque.
The Allstar edition comes with LED headlights and 15-inch, 20-spoke alloy wheels. It will flaunt headlamp washers, 'Allstar' badging on the B-pillar and sill plate. Inside the cabin, Allstar edition features aluminium pedals, foot-well lamp and new seat upholstery with a contrasting stripe. A centre armrest and rear AC vent has been incorporated which is borrowed from the Vento.
Apart from the Polo Allstar edition, Volkswagen India is also expected to launch the Polo GTI, the most powerful derivative of the Polo hatchback, in November. The Polo GTI will be powered by a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing maximum power output of 189bhp and maximum torque of 320Nm, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission.
