European car manufacturer Volkswagen launched the petrol variant of its best selling hatchback Polo in India for ₹7.99 lakh.
The vehicle comes with a 1.2 TSI's 1.2 litre, four cylinder turbo petrol engine which delivers 105 bhp power and 175 Nm torque at 1,500-4,100 RPM. It packs safety features like twin airbags, ABS and EBD and comes with Bluetooth connectivity plus stereo and automatic climate controls. Volkswagen claims that the new Polo gives a mileage of 17.2 km per litre.
"Fuel efficiency has become vital for every customer looking at purchasing a new car and the Polo GT TSI is an answer to this demand offering maximum power and minimum consumption," said Arvind Saxena, Managing Director for passenger cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India.
The vehicle will be available in three colour variants - red, black and white. Booking orders are now open and buyers can book the vehicle with an advance amount of ₹50,000. The company said that the new version of the Polo hatchback is designed keeping in mind the increasing demand for fuel- efficient vehicles.
"In the current market scenario, fuel efficiency has become vital for every customer looking at purchasing a new car. Under these circumstances we strongly feel the need to provide our customer with a choice to opt for an efficient petrol car," said Saxena.
Volkswagen which has a market in more than 150 countries sells Polo, Vento, Jetta, Passat and Touareg models in India. With the launch of its new variant, the company hopes to increase sales in the India. According to reports, the company has recorded a sales of 1717 diesel powered Polo variants and 1284 petrol variants in the past month.
