German luxury car-maker Volkswagen is all set to unveil its all-new compact sedan Ameo in India on 2 February, a day before Auto Expo 2016. Ahead of its unveiling in the country, the company has teased the model on its social media platforms along with its other models, which are expected to be showcased at the auto show.
The latest teaser image of the Ameo gives a fair idea of the model's overall body proportions. Following the unveiling on 2 February, the Ameo will join the company's arena at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Earlier the company had teased an image of its new Ameo being rolled out from the Chakan facility in Pune. The Ameo is one such model from the German auto-maker in India with highest percentage of localisation.
The Ameo, which will be based on the PQ24 platform of the Vento, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5-8 lakh. Under the hood, the Ameo is expected to get the current Polo engines, including the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and the 1.5-diesel unit. While the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine can churn out power of 74bhp@ 5,400 rpm and torque of 110 Nm @ 3,750 rpm, the diesel 1.5-litre can generate 88.7bhp @ 4,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm.
As for features, the Ameo is speculated to house rear AC vents, front centre armrest, a touchscreen audio system, auto-dimming IRVM, turn indicators on ORVMs and an antenna on the roof.
The Ameo, a made-in-India compact sedan, will rival Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and Honda Amaze in the domestic market, and sit between the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan.
