The road show will culminate on July 2, 2016, and the launch of the compact sedan can be expected in July.
Prospective customers will also be able to access details about the Ameo from the mobile application or the company's website. The mobile application will be available on android as well as iOS platforms.
"The Ameo is a truly special carline designed specifically for our Indian consumers. With the Ameo, we seek to reach out to customers in the Tier 2 and 3 markets. To digitise the customer interface and facilitate the bookings, we are also launching a mobile application for the benefit of interested customers," said Michael Mayer, director at Volkswagen Passenger Cars, in a statement.
Ameo is the first tailor-made compact sedan for India, designed and manufactured at the company's Chakan facility. The car will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines --1.2-litre three-cylinder MPI petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI diesel engine. The diesel engine would be available with five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG transmissions, while the petrol engine will be available with only five-speed manual transmission. All the variants of the Ameo will be fitted with dual front airbags and ABS as standard.
