At the heart of Ameo are the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and a 1.5-diesel unit. While the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine can churn out power of 74 bhp @ 5,400 rpm and torque of 110 Nm @ 3,750 rpm, the diesel 1.5-litre motor can generate 88.7 bhp @ 4,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm.

German car-maker Volkswagen will unveil its all-new Ameo compact sedan in India on Tuesday, 2 February, in Delhi. The Ameo will then join the company's pavilion at Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida on 3 February.
Volkswagen Ameo, the compact sedan, made in India specifically for the India market, will be launched in India in the coming months after the unveiling on Tuesday in Delhi. The company has started the promotional campaign for the Ameo, and released a handful of images of the model, giving an early glimpse at it.
The Ameo, which will be based on the PQ24 platform of the Vento, will rival Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and Honda Amaze in the domestic market. At the heart of the Ameo most likely a 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and a 1.5-diesel unit. To be positioned between the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan, the Ameo made-in-India compact sedan is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 5-8 lakh. The Ameo, one of Volkswagen's models with highest percentage of localisation, will be rolled out from the company's Chakan facility in Pune.
