Vivo is making pretty strong moves in the smartphone industry of late. The company already has a wide collection of smartphones in its X series and a new handset is expected to add more value to the brand. Vivo teased its upcoming smartphone, the X7, in China, featuring a highly-capable 16-megapixel front camera for selfies as its biggest USP.
GizChina reported on Tuesday that the Chinese smartphone maker may finally have a successor to its Xshot smartphone, which was launched in 2014, but with a new name. There isn't much to share about the Vivo X7 except for its high-resolution selfie camera and some intelligence on the handset's design.
As per industry sources, Vivo is likely to introduce a new design for its Vivo X7, for which the company is currently applying necessary patents. It is also reported that the new X7 might appear similar to the Vivo concept phone seen in Marvel's latest "Captain America: Civil War" movie.
According to a separate report by The Mobile Indian, Vivo is expected to launch the X7 smartphone in China later this month for around Vivo X7 with ¥2799 (approximately Rs. 28,572). If rumours are to be believed, the Vivo X7's front camera will be accompanied by a LED flash and the rear camera will flaunt a 20MP sensor.
Vivo will also justify the premium price tag with high-performing specs and likely add a MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core processor paired with a whopping 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The handset will also boast a fingerprint scanner, which has become a standard biometric authentication for smartphones in both premium and budget price range.
As compared to China, Vivo has a limited range of smartphones in India. The company's X series has been quite successful even though it has just four models — the X5 Pro, X5 Max, X Shot and X3S. It is unclear if and when Vivo will launch its new X7 for its Indian fans.
