It is always exciting to see a Bollywood actor starring in South Indian movies and vice versa. This time it's Vivek Oberoi who will be seen in an important role in the much-awaited Ajith-starrer, Vivegam.
Talking about his role, Vivek told DNA: "Yes, I am doing my first Tamil film. People are confused about whether I play the hero or the villain, or I have a negative role or not. It's a powerful parallel role."
"I have always admired Ajith's work and the way he is constantly reinventing himself. I was blown by his performance in Vedalam. When the director of the film Siva called me and said that he created the title Vivegam (my name in Tamil) only because he wanted me in the film, I was really humbled," he added.
Vivegam, touted to be a spy-thriller, is directed by Siruthai Siva who has worked with superstar Ajith in two of his previous films – Veeram and Vedhalam. Kajal Agarwal and Akshara Hassan play the female leads, while Vivek is said to be the antagonist in the movie.
The movie has already created a lot of hype ever since the teaser was released in May. It had crossed over 5 million views in less than 24 hours of its release on YouTube. Ajith's superstar screen presence and powerful lines in the teaser have already driven his fans crazy. The actor seems to be ready to give a James Bond-like thrill to fans with the movie's stylish production.
The makers are not revealing anything about most of the characters in the film, but the flick surely has high octane action sequences.
Since Baahubali, Bollywood movie watchers have started taking interest in South movies and thus, the Ajith-starrer might draw a huge crowd as well. Also, Vivegam has a Bollywood connection – Vivek. The actor will also soon appear in Bank Chor with Riteish Deshmukh.
Recently, the first song teaser titled Surviva from Ajith's Vivegam was unveiled.
