Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 was released worldwide on Friday, August 10. The spy thriller was premiered in several overseas theatres a day before it hit the screens in India. It is a mega-budget project which serves as a circumquel --both prequel and sequel -- to the actor's controversial film Vishwaroopam.
Vishwaroopam 2 is a thriller movie in which Kamal Haasan plays the role of a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent named Major Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri. In the first instalment, he had foiled Omar Qureshi's (Rahul Bose) plan to destroy New York. Towards the end, the Wisam vows to nab him.
The second instalment is the continuation from where the story ended in Vishwaroopam. It is a revenge drama where the terrorist tries to seek revenge against Wisam.
The film is packed with high-octane actions sequences and people have already given thumbs up for the underwater action sequence and gravity-defying stunts in the climax. The high-end VFX has also enhanced the overall technical value of the movie.
However, there is way too much of footage from the first part which makes it quite a boring film at certain points. In short, Vishwaroopam 2 is not a slick entertainer like its predecessor.
The Kamal Haasan-starrer has met with mixed reviews from the critics and audience. The movie has got a decent opening and the movie is expected to do good business in the next two days.
Unfortunately, the collection might be affected because the movie has been hit by piracy. The full movie in different qualities has made it to torrent sites.
With the active anti-piracy cell of Tamil Nadu Producers' Council closely monitoring the sites, the loss might not be too big.
