The business of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 has witnessed a considerable drop in its second weekend in Chennai due to Kolamavu Kokila. The Nayanthara starrer has attracted viewers in big numbers in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
After earning Rs 2.39 crore from 435 shows in the three-day first weekend, Vishwaroopam 2 enjoyed average occupancy rates during the weekdays except on Independence Day (August 15).
As a result, Vishwaroopam 2 added Rs 1.71 crore from 412 shows during the weekdays to take its 7-day total to Rs 4.1 crore from 847 shows. In its second weekend, the film has raked in Rs 36.47 lakh from 138 shows in Chennai.
The movie had limited shows following the release of Kolamavu Kokila. The Nayanthara-starrer won rave reviews and the exhibitors had a strong reason to increase the number of shows for this latest flick.
By the end of 10 days, Vishwaroopam 2 has raked in Rs 4.47 crore in Chennai.
Coming to the Tamil Nadu box office, the Kamal Haasan starrer has earned over Rs 15 crore in the state and around Rs 28 crore from the rest of the world.
With negative word-of-mouth, the movie is unlikely to make a recovery and is expected to be a dud at the worldwide box office.
