Vishwaroopam 2 actress Andrea Jeremiah and Tamil actor Karunas have supported actress Sri Reddy's protest against casting couch and sexual exploitation. The actors have said that culprits should be punished.
Sri Reddy is now getting much-needed support from Kollywood, weeks after she exposed the sexual exploitations by several celebrities, including AR Murugadoss, Srikanth and Raghava Lawrence.
Actor Andrea Jeremiah spoke against the casting couch during the promotion of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2.
Andrea Jeremiah appreciated Sri Reddy for opening up about sexual exploitation. "If she is true, then it takes a strong heart to reveal it. I've never faced any allegations like that but if someone faces things like that, telling it out openly is correct and people behind this should be punished" a news portal quoted the Vishwaroopam 2 actress as saying.
Karunas spoke about the casting couch in a recent interview and empathized with Sri Reddy. "The film industry is like intoxication. People have made a film star even the Chief Minister of the state. In the case of this particular actress, she has never told that somebody has molested her by blackmailing. Instead many people misused her after promising her offers," Actor-turned-politician told IndiaGlitz.
Karunas added, "I consider it as a very cruel thing to do. Is it right to exploit a girl after promising acting offers? The testimonials made by the actress clearly indicates that girls should be a bit careful while working in the industry. The girl pointed out three people, but she wants to convey there might be 300 people like this."
The actor also said, "Most of the film personalities often talk about status. If these people want to do things like these, then fly to some other countries where prostitution is legal. There are many countries like that, and you have the money too to go there."
