Ilayathalapathy Vijay's "Theri" is poised for a worldwide release Thursday, April 14. The superstar, who enjoys a huge fan-following in South India, is expected to take the Kerala box office by storm with his upcoming movie, which is set to have a solo big release in the state.
The family action-thriller will be released in more than 180 screens in Kerala. Given Vijay's popularity in the state, special morning shows have also been arranged; however, tickets for almost all the shows have been sold out in many theatres throughout the state.
The movie, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson and baby Nainika in important roles, is being distributed in Kerala by Friday Film House in association with Carnival Pictures. The production houses have bagged the theatrical rights of the Vijay-starrer for a whopping price, rumoured to be an approximate amount of Rs. 5.6 crore, which is said to be more than the Kerala theatrical rights amount of blockbuster movie "Baahubali - The Beginning."

In the Atlee Kumar directorial, Vijay plays multiple avatars and the Kerala audience are eagerly waiting for its release as one of the characters played by Vijay is Kottayam-based Joseph Kuruvilla. The movie also has Prabhu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahendran, KS Ravikumar, Santhanam and Rajendran in significant roles.
Meanwhile, Mammootty's "White" and Kunchacko Boban's "Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti" were announced as Vishu releases of the year. It has to be noted that none of the big-ticket Malayalam movies are releasing Thursday despite Vishu being one of the most important festivals in Kerala. It is believed that the release date of some Malayalam movies have been postponed due to the release of the big-budget Vijay-starrer, which is being produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu.
