Vishal Krishna's much-hyped "Marudhu" is all set to release this Friday, May 20. The movie is releasing simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu in over 700 screens.

"Marudhu" will see the light of the day in over 400 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. The advance booking of tickets started on Wednesday, May 18, and the film is reportedly getting decent response from cine-goers.

Meanwhile, the movie has been censored and has bagged "U/A" certification from the regional censor board. "#Maruthu - UA, releasing huge May 20. Already crossed booking for 400 screens in TN. Running Time -2 hrs 25 minutes, [sic]" journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.

The officials who watched the movie were reportedly not happy with the violence in the film. Hence, they cleared the film with the aforementioned certificate. As a result, the flick is not eligible for the state government's 30 percent entertainment tax exemption, which is given to flicks that get "U" certification.

"Marudhu" is a rural drama that mainly revolves around the relationship between a man and his grandmother. Sri Divya plays the female lead in the Tamil flick, which has Radha Ravi, Soori, RK Suresh, Namo Narayana and others in the cast.

The film, which will simultaneously release in Telugu as "Rayudu," has been written and directed by M Muthiah. J Venkatesh has produced "Marudhu," which has D Imman's music, Praveen KL's editing and Velraj's cinematography.

Meanwhile, Vishal Krishna is busy with the promotions of "Marudhu." He tweeted: "Gm all.Shoot cancelld owin 2 heavy rain.am I happy or sad. dunno off to doing promotion work 4 #marudhu.2moe days. [sic]"
