Vishal's upcoming film "Pandiyanadu" is the latest to join the Diwali race with Ajith's "Arrambam", Karthi's "All in All Azhagu Raja" and Arya's "Irandam Ulagam".
With just about 50 days remaining for Diwali, the makers of some big films are planning to release their projects on the festival weekend as a treat for audience. This Diwali will be special as some of the most-awaited films of 2013 will hit screens.
Earlier, Ajith's "Arrambam" was confirmed for release on Diwali. Then the makers of Arya-Anushka Shetty's "Irandam Ulagam" also announced that their film will be released during the special festival weekend.
Karthi's comedy caper "All in All Azhagu Raja" is also likely to make it to screens around the same time. Now, Vishal's "Pandiyanadu" has become latest entrant in the Diwali race.
The trailer of "Pandiayanadu", which was released on Ganesh Chaturthi, has already generated a lot of buzz, thanks to Vishal's star power and director Suseenthiran whose recently released romantic drama "Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer" received critical acclaim for its good content. It remains to be seen if all the aforementioned films will be released on the slated date as there might be a big clash for screens. According to senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai, there are only 650 screens (of the total 935) for big Tamil films. He believes it is not possible to release four big banner films on the same date.
Moreover, Hindi film "Krrish 3" is also aiming for a Diwali release. Sreedhar said the makers of the Hrithik starrer are eyeing 100 screens in Tamil Nadu. There is going to be stiff competition between these films to grab more screens.
Sreedhar feels that only two films will make it to theatres, while other films will drop out of the race. "4 those asking whether all 4 will release 4 Diwali? My answer - NO. I stick 2 my earlier theory only 2 will release, others will drop out," he tweeted.
One needs to wait a little longer to find out which film retains its scheduled Diwali release date and which one backs out of the race.
