Team India have touched down in Australia for the all-important ODI and the T20 series that leads to the ICC World T20 2016 in March. India Test skipper Virat Kohli is pumped up ahead of the ODI series, and posted a photo on Instagram on Wednesday.
India will play five ODIs and three T20 internationals on this tour. The visitors are also scheduled to play a couple of warm up matches on 8 and 9 January against a Western Australia XI at the WACA in Perth.
The first ODI of the five-match series will be played at the same venue on 12 January.
Kohli feels India should make a positive start to the tournament in order to assert their supremacy over the world champions.
Kohli has a lot of memories to celebrate Down Under. He slammed four back-to-back centuries in the four Test matches against the Aussies last season. But he could not emulate that form with the bat in the triangular series after that. This time around, he is confident that Team India will come up with a better performance.
"From a team's point of view, the start is important when you want to achieve something. What we were able to do as a squad in Australia was special for me, not just the way I performed, but the whole team," Kohli told Harsha Bhogle after he received the Polly Umrigar Award on Tuesday in Mumbai.
"I can't wait. Everyone is suited up. The shoes are shining. I can't wait to get on the plane."
