CSA has confirmed that it was India, who called off the scheduled practice game at Boland Park in Paarl. This was the only game before the first Test in Cape Town from January 5, 2018.
Kohli-led side have opted for training sessions instead of practice game. India and South Africa will play three Tests, six ODIs and three T20Is.
India are currently involved in a limited-series at home against Sri Lanka. Kohli has been rested. He got married to Anushka Sharma yesterday (December 11) in Italy.
In Kohli's absence, Rohit Sharma is leading India in both ODIs and T20Is against the islanders. The series ends on December 24 and the Indian players are set to arrive in South Africa on December 28.
India, the current number one side in the world, have never won a Test series in South Africa.
