After prolonged illness, veteran actor Vinod Khanna passed away on Thursday in Mumbai. The actor was suffering from advanced bladder carcinoma (bladder cancer) and was admitted to HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai, for treatment.
The Qurbaani actor breathed his last on Thursday at around 11.20 am. He was rushed to hospital in April first week due to severe dehydration, but was discharged after he responded positively to treatment.

"Doctors and family were expecting a recovery but somehow his condition escalated and he succumbed today afternoon," Hindustan Times quoted a hospital source as saying.
Vinod, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, worked in more than 140 films in his career spanning over four decades. He started his acting career in 1968 with Sunil Dutt's film Man Ka Meet and later went on to work in prominent films as a lead actor. He has played the lead roles in several films, including the iconic Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbaani, Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Gaddaar (1973 film), Jail Yatra, Imitihaan, Inkaar, Kuchhe Dhaage, Kudrat, Dayavan and Jurm.
The actor was at the peak of his career in 1982. During the same time, he became a follower of spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh and quit film industry temporarily for five years. In 1987, he returned to the film industry and gave back to back hit films Insaaf and Satyamev Jayate.
On the personal front, the actor is survived by three sons and a daughter, Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna from his first wife Geetanjali, and Sakshi Khanna and Shraddha Khanna from his second wife Kavita.
