Vijender Singh has been active on micro-blogging site Twitter, posting pictures of his workouts in the gym and training as well. The Indian boxer is currently gearing up to be in perfect shape for his upcoming fight against Francis Cheka, where Vijender will aim to defend his WBO Asia Pacific Super middleweight title in New Delhi later this month.
The champion boxer posted another tweet with a picture of himself, with his closed fists, and has promised that he will give his best against Cheka, but wants supports from his fans. His tweet read, "Waiting for 17th December! I promise you all that I'll try my best to defend the title. Need all your support.
The bout, which has been scheduled at Thyagaraj Sport Complex in New Delhi, is expected to be sold-out with huge support for Vijender. However, this is not the first pro bout Vijender will be fighting in front of his home fans. It was in the same venue that the boxer earned his first world title, defeating Kerry Hope from Australia in July.
There was great support for Vijender against Hope during that encounter, and the boxer must have been pleased with the support he received then. This time around, he will need greater support from the people in the stands to pump him up ahead of his clash against Cheka, who has been exceptional in his pro career.
This bout against Cheka is going to be the toughest in his pro career so far, but he has the ingredients to defeat him. Vijender has set his sights on knocking out the boxer, and is working on various plans to emerge victorious. Out of Vijender's seven pro bouts, he has won six of them via knockouts.
Will Vijender continue his winning streak in pro boxing? We will come to know about that on December 17.
