Vijender Singh is yet to taste defeat as a professional boxer since turning pro last year, winning all his past seven bouts in style. He is already the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight champion, and the boxer is set to defend that crown against Tanzanian boxer Francis Cheka. Vijender is confident of a win to retain that prestigious title in New Delhi on Saturday.

His last fight against Kerry Hope was at the same venue -- Thyagaraj Sport Complex in New Delhi – where he won his first title. There was tremendous support from the fans in his home country, and Vijender hopes that he will be supported to the hilt against Cheka as well.

"I am expecting huge support from my country. The chants and cheers pumps me up. I feel so energetic in the ring. I am thankful to my friends for such support in my last fight [against Hopes]. Chants of 'Viju', 'Viju' are still fresh in my mind. I am expecting the same this time too," news18.com quoted Vijender as saying.

No doubt, the support for Vijender is going to be wonderful, and one can expect an amazing atmosphere, but Vijender also has to take his game a notch higher as he is up against an experienced boxer.

Cheka has 300 rounds of boxing compared to Vijender's 27 in the pro circuit, but there is an air of confidence in Vijender, who is not perturbed with his experience, but just wants to throw umpteenth punches at Cheka.

"All I want to say right now is that Singh is King, Vijender Singh. I don't have any doubt. Let's see in the ring. I never bother about my opponent's records and achievements. I don't care if Cheka is a superstar. I too have my Olympic medal with me," Vijender said.

"Cheka will get a lot of punches from me on December 17. He has not even thought how many punches he will get. I just want to request all my Indian friends to come and cheer for me."
